SGLF Multi-State Survey Finds Conservative Policies are Popular Across Country
The State Government Leadership Foundation (SGLF) recently commissioned a multi-state survey that found Americans across the country overwhelmingly favor conservative policies. Here are some highlights from the poll, which was conducted by Cygnal.
Americans believe their state government should focus on getting back to normal after COVID and reviving the economy.
When asked what they believe should be a top priority for state government, 67% of respondents say either “getting things back to normal following the pandemic,” “creating jobs and growing the economy,” or “addressing the cost of living.”
Getting things back to normal following the pandemic - 28%
Creating jobs and growing the economy - 20%
Addressing the cost of living - 19%
Americans want their state legislatures to push back on the liberal policies coming out of Washington.
44% of respondents say they prefer their state legislature pushes back against Washington D.C. by enacting the opposite policies, compared to 38% of respondents who want their state legislature to support the policies and agenda of Washington D.C.
Americans want their state legislatures to pursue conservative policies to offset the rising cost of living.
74% of those surveyed said that it was important for their state legislature to enact policies like suspending or cutting the gas and sales tax to help offset the rise in inflation and cost of living.
Americans believe public education has become politicized, want a greater voice in how their children are educated, and want their schools to be open for in-person learning five days per week.
64% of respondents say that America’s education system has become too focused on pushing partisan political agendas at the expense of teaching basic math, science, reading, and writing skills.
67% of those surveyed support their state legislature enacting school choice policies that allow families to have more flexibility to choose the best school and education for their children during the pandemic, such as vouchers or education savings accounts.
60% of respondents believe schools should remain open because too many students are falling behind.
