State Government Leadership Foundation: Nothing fair about Malloy’s policies that crushed Connecticut’s economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 9, 2018) – The State Government Leadership Foundation (SGLF) announced today the release of two new ads to run statewide in Connecticut, educating residents on the abysmal record of Governor Dan Malloy’s tax and spend policies that have made Connecticut far less competitive, even with their neighbors.
“Thanks to Governor Malloy, fairness has fled Connecticut families and job creators who are being left behind while the rest of the country is experiencing the most booming economy in modern history,” said Matt Walter, Executive Director of the State Government Leadership Foundation. “Nationally, unemployment is at an all-time low, while the working families of Connecticut wear the policies of Governor Malloy like an albatross,” Walter added.
Connecticut is one of just a few states that has failed to recover the jobs lost in the great recession. Just 88% of the 119,000 jobs lost have come back to Connecticut, while neighboring states like Massachusetts recovered 382% and Rhode Island recovered 154%.
Connecticut’s wage growth has stagnated, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic recently reported, Connecticut wage growth ranked 46th in the country.
SGLF’s digital ads will run statewide throughout the remainder of the year educating residents and advocating for lower taxes, smaller government, and balanced budgets.
SGLF is a 501 (c)(4) social welfare organization and a strategic partner to the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC)—home to the Republican Lieutenant Governors Association, Republican Legislative Campaign Committee and the Republican Secretaries of State Committee. By supporting and advocating for state-level leadership and solutions, SGLF promotes good governance and the conservative principles of limited government, low taxes, less regulation, and individual liberty and opportunity for all. SGLF is dedicated to educating policymakers and the public about the benefits of smaller government, lower taxes, balanced budgets and efficient governing.
